Following the Great Teacher

At Comfort Studio, we believe the ultimate example of teaching comes from Jesus Christ, the Great Teacher.

In Matthew 28:18-20, “Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’ ”

While this verse is often recognized as the Great Commission, it is also a beautiful model of teaching, guiding, and nurturing others in truth. At its heart, it reminds us that teaching is not just about sharing information, it’s about shaping lives with purpose, love, and intentional care. It is about true discipleship.

Learning from the Greatest Teacher

Jesus didn’t teach in a one-size-fits-all way. He met people where they were using stories and parables to reach those who were in need of understanding, asking questions to spark thinking, showing patience with those who struggled, and leading with compassion. Jesus didn’t rush the process, He walked with people.

Nick and I follow that same model. We understand that every child is different, and we believe learning should reflect that. By taking time to understand each child’s needs, we can help them grow in truth with confidence.

More Than Information, It’s Transformation

Matthew 28:19 isn’t just about teaching facts, it’s about discipleship, which means guiding someone toward growth and transformation. True discipleship, during the time that Jesus lived, meant more than merely learning from their teacher, their rabbi. It meant immitating them, copying them; dressing, thinking, and behaving just like them. Jesus fully expected His followers to become like Him, in both understanding and compassion.

In education, that means:

  • Building confidence, not just completing assignments

  • Encouraging perseverance, not just performance

  • Developing character alongside academic skills

True learning changes how a student sees themselves. When a child begins to say, “I can do this,” instead of “I can’t,” something deeper than academics has taken place.

Teaching with Purpose and Love

Jesus taught with intention. Every word, every lesson, every moment had purpose. He did not waste His time on meaningless or empty words. In fact, He warned against such in Matthew 12:36-37. When He spoke with His disciples, He indeed shared profound spiritual concepts, but also was willing to patiently bare their questions and explain his parables, breaking it down in a way they could understand.

This means:

  • Being patient when a child needs extra time

  • Celebrating small victories along the way

  • Creating a space where students feel seen and valued

  • Encouraging students through both success and struggle

Because when students feel cared for, they are more open to learning.

Reaching Every Child

“Go therefore…” is a call to action to reach others where they are.

Some children come to us confident and ready. Others come hesitant, discouraged, or unsure of themselves. No matter where a student begins, we can meet them there. We believe every child deserves access to support, encouragement, and guidance, especially those who may feel overlooked or left behind in traditional learning environments. Sometimes, the most important part of teaching isn’t necessarily mastering the standard, it’s removing the barriers that have been built up from years of struggle and doubt.

A Learning Environment That Reflects Christ

Following the example of Jesus means creating an environment filled with:

  • Grace instead of pressure

  • Patience instead of frustration

  • Encouragement instead of criticism

  • Hope instead of doubt

This kind of environment doesn’t just help students learn — it helps them grow.

A Calling, Not Just a Career

At Comfort Studio, teaching is more than a service, it’s a calling.

We believe we are entrusted with something special: the opportunity to pour into young minds and hearts, to guide students toward truth in confidence, and to remind them of their God-given potential.

Matthew 28:19 reminds us that teaching is about planting seeds that will grow far beyond a single lesson.

🌿 Comfort Studio: Learn. Laugh. Feel At Home.

As Nick and I follow the example of the Great Teacher, we are committed to walking alongside every student with faith, compassion, and purpose. Teaching, at its best, is not just about helping a child succeed in school, it’s about helping them grow into who they were created to be. And that journey is one we are honored to be part of.
